Police in Nakapiripirit district have
impounded 170 jerrycans of illicit waragi from Naturum village, Loregae
sub-county.
According to inspector of police, Mike Longole,
the police spokesperson for Karamoja, this followed an intelligence tip off at
around1:30pm today.
Longole says the caretaker of the deadly
waragi, Philip Lokure-a resident of Kakomongole village has also been
apprehended to aid police with more information.
Just a fortnight ago, 35 jerrycans of waragi
were impounded from the home of the district speaker of Nakapiripirit district.
Subsequently, the speaker was summoned by
police to record statements over the same.
Police in Karamoja has partly attributed
raids in the region to illicit waragi-which they say gives the cattle thieves
courage to conduct rustling.
