Police has summoned the
district council speaker of Nakapiripirit to go and record a statement, after 35
jerrycans of illicit waragi were impounded from his home.
According to
police spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole, the 35 jerrycans of the toxic
drink were arrested from the home of Richard Lochoro, who also doubles as the
councilor for Namalu sub-county.
Longole
expressed dismay that some leaders still promote criminality in their areas
instead of helping security forces to curb criminality.
On the other
hand, joint security forces have recovered 75 heads of cattle that were rustled
by raiders in Katakwi district.
Maj. Isaac Oware,
the third division spokesperson says the forceful recovery followed a fire
exchange with the suspects in Aleuleu village, in Ongongoja sub-county, where
61 cows were recovered.
Oware says
the pursuit of the thieves continued where additional 14 heads of cattle were
recovered from Nyakwae in Abim district.
The
recovered animals belong to residents of Ongongoja sub-county and they were
handed over back to their owners in the presence of Katakwi district chairman,
Geoffrey Omolo.
