A 40 year old man has
succumbed to bullet wounds after being shot by joint security forces during a
fire exchange with armed pastoralists in Amudat district.
The third
division spokesperson, Maj.Isaac Oware has confirmed the incident and has
identified the victim as Lokipurat Amadanyang, a resident of Lokai village in
Lokalesi sub-county.
According to
Maj.Oware, the shootout happened in areas along River Okilim in Ayole village,
a corridor which lies within the Pian-Upe game reserve.
The corridor
according to security forces is always targeted by pastoral communities who are
often pushed back to avoid destruction of crops and altercation with
cultivators.
Maj.Oware
has meanwhile cautioned communities against grazing, cultivating and poaching
in gazzeted areas.
