A fire outbreak in Loterwa camp, Sidok sub-county in Kaabong district has left about 51 households homeless, after their homes were razed down by the inferno.
Police spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole has confirmed the incident, saying the fire broke out last evening at around 6pm.
Longole says the fire was lit by a three year old boy, who was left unattended to by the mother Rose Modo, who was preparing a family meal but decided to rush to a water point to fetch water.
According to Longole, the little boy picked a bundle of dry grass and lit it, only for strong winds to transfer it to a nearby hut, consequently spreading to other huts.
The huts were burnt to ashes, with a number of household properties destroyed in the inferno.
