Territorial police in Napak
district have commenced investigations on the shooting of a 63 year old man, a
resident of Lominit village, Kalokengel sub-county.
Police
spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole has identified the victim as Prescott
Sagal, who was gunned down at around 10pm, on the night of 24th
October.
According to
Longole, Sagal met his fate when he and other community members attempted to
follow and trace their animals in the night following a raid.
However, the
group fell into an ambush laid by raiders who were driving the goats, where the
deceased was shot on the head and died instantly.
The body of
the deceased has been taken to Matany hospital for postmortem, as efforts to
trace for the assailants continue.
Longole has
meanwhile urged the locals to desist from following their stolen animals since
it exposes them to risks, adding that it is the responsibility of the security
personnel.
