A search is on for a driver who they say fled the scene of accident that led to severe injuries of several locals enroute to Kotido district for peace dialogue.

Over 10 people from Rupa Sub County, Moroto district were on Oct. 04, 2023 evening admitted at the Moroto regional referral hospital with broken limbs, head injuries and critical chest pain among others.

The accident happened at the entrance to L’orunget community school, Lopeei Sub County, Napak district, some 26 kilometres West of Moroto town along Kotido road.

The Deputy RDC Moroto Justine Tuko when contacted confirmed the late afternoon accident that involved dozens of locals heading to Kalisariki grazing ground in Matheniko game reserve.

He however, could not readily explain the cause of the accident as sources of information remained scanty.

Tuko adds that the medics are working round to ensure the peace seekers are out of danger.

The Karamoja Police mouthpiece Mike Longole when contacted said he had not been furnished with the details of the accident.
