The Democratic party-DP has launched registration of its members in Karamoja,
ahead of the party’s delegates conference in September and national elections
in 2026.
While
launching the registration exercise at an event held at Lavender Inn-Moroto town,
DP secretary general Dr. Gerald Siranda told the DP members that their party is
aiming at leadership transition in Uganda without bloodshed.
Dr. Siranda
called for unity and togetherness among party members and committed that the
party will support candidates who will contest under the DP ticket.

On the
cooperation between the Democratic Party and NRM, the secretary general who
also doubles as Uganda’s representative at the East African Assembly said his
party is a ladder of engagement with the ruling regime as it provides a
platform for sharing democratic principles.
According to
the party, the registration exercise of members is expected to be complete by
end of July this year.
