The Most Rev. Joseph Abura of Karamoja Diocese today wept visibly
over the Iron sheets and goats’ saga calling for the immediate arrest of the
perpetrators in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The fully packed church could not resist the emotions, an issue
that forced them to coil their hands around their necks whereas others wiped
tears as they listened to the sermon.
Abura called for the immediate arrest of the people behind the
shameful act and wondered why such heinous crime should be allowed within the
leadership of government business.
He says he is seriously pained by the evil deeds by the Kings and
queens in Uganda, adding that what is being witnessed is making the ruling
government more vulnerable to the people.
He argues that the evils are simply coordinated attacks against the
poor and most vulnerable people of Karamoja, noting that it could be people
somewhere are carrying a particular agenda about failing Karamoja or protecting
their survival.
The Bishop says Karamoja remains a poor lamb that has been stolen
and robbed for decades adding that the top government officials should not have
gotten involved in such saga.
Abura noted the sub region is a place where one can loot resources
in broad day light saying its only fools who should get out Karamoja poor.
The bishop said the minister for Karamoja affairs should have had
passion for the people of Karamoja by not crossing over to Turkana and Samburu
in Kenya to buy goats, adding that these billions could have helped boost the
economy in Karamoja.
Bishop Abura was today presiding over mass at St. Philips Cathedral
in Moroto town.
