Farmers in Karamoja have
been urged to form and register under cooperative groups if they are to easily
benefit from the government programs.
The call was
made by the state minister animal industry Lt Col Bright Rwamirama who says
government is currently committed to supporting farmers enumerated under
cooperative societies rather than those operating individually.
He says
under the cooperative societies, government has realized that donated equipment
and funding can be easily managed since decision making is not based on an
individual’s thought
Rwamirama
tasked local leaders in Karamoja to sensitize and mobilize farmers and with
guidance from the commercial office, they are registered into cooperative
societies so that they can start lobbying for support from government.
