There was a somber mood in the morning today in Kotido district as the football fraternity woke up to the news of the sudden death of Kawesa Meddy Sky.

The late Kawesa is reported to have played full time during the Luo-Bantu community game that ended 3-3 in the ongoing Kotido Uhuru drum league competitions before developing complications that saw him rushed to Kotido general hospital.

Ali Yunus Ocheng Obertan a fellow player and friend to Kawesa narrates that after the game, they interacted for a couple of minutes and he seemed fine.

Obertan says after a few minutes later, he received the information that the deceased had been rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

At the hospital, he states that medics tried resuscitating him but all in vain.

By midday, the body had left for burial at his ancestral home in Musoota, Mbale where he was to be laid to rest.
