Former Kotido primary teachers college in Kotido municipality is to
be officially handed over to Gulu University on Thursday 14th, this
week.
This is to pave way for the full operationalization of
Gulu University, Kotido campus in the next academic year
Kotido PTC was one of the 22 non-core PTCs that was
recently phased out by the ministry of education, in a bid for the education
ministry to implement the plan to have all teachers in the country upgrade and
attain at least a degree level education.
Following the development, Gulu University picked
interest in the facility to have it repurposed as one of their branches, a
request that was subsequently approved by Kotido district council, early this
year.
Suzan Achayo the former principle of the PTC says they
have been doing all the necessary paper work to pave way for the smooth and
official handover of the college this week.
Achayo however revealed that amidst calls by the college
authorities informing former students to pick their academic credentials, only
a handful have since responded, leaving them stuck with over 100 documents at
the facility.
She says they will now forward the said academic
documents to the education and sports ministry, as directed by authorities.
