There has been a spate of attacks by armed gun men on locals in Nakoreto, in Maaru sub county where a school watch man Lojara Lojok was killed and a separate incident where one Lobee Moses- a peace committee member’s wife Achen Paulina sustained injuries and currently receiving treatment at Matany Hospital.

Col. David Byaruhanga- the UPDF 405 Brigade commander however says these are petty thieves who are targeting a section of the populace, saying security officials are investigating and tracking down the criminals.

Karamoja regional police spokesperson Mike Longole says no arrests have so far been made.

Longole says the fire arms need to be first retrieved so that tests are run to ensure that it is the one used to stage the killings there after they can implicate culprits for the murders.

On the separate attack over the weekend, Longole says security forces managed to put out of action 2 armed suspected cattle rustlers in Abim district following the theft of a bull from Agonga village in Alerek sub county.
