Head teachers in Karamoja have been warned of
losing their positions if found guilty of fielding ineligible players in the
ongoing Karamoja region secondary schools champions being held in Kaabong
district.
While
speaking today, Jackson Bushendich, the Karamoja zone secondary school
chairperson cautioned teachers of use of law against ineligible players,
commonly known as Bachubbas.
Bushendich
noted that these competitions are aimed at supporting young talent for easy identification,
nurturing and sustainability.
He
warned that not only head teachers will be punished, but also games teachers as
well as those in direct control of the school teams.
There
are over 12 schools participating in girls’ football and 17 for boys, as
Karamoja searches for four teams to represent the region at the national level.
In
2023, Karamoja region was represented by Kangole girls from Napak and Moroto
High School during the fresh dairy games hosted by Ntale High school in Mbarara
while Lotukei sees and Abim SS showcased for the males in Nyakashura SS in Fort
