Three clans of the
Karimojong have held a roundtable dialogue, in a bid to foster peace amongst
them.
The clans
include the Jie, Bokora and Matheniko.
While
addressing them, the anti-stock theft unit commandant, Senior Commissioner of
police Elias Kasirabo urged the three clans to come up with a covenant on peace,
something he says will put an end to raids and killings among the communities.
Kasirabo
noted that Karamoja will attain its full potential once communities front peace
as a number one priority.
He also
re-echoed to the traders to follow the gazetted routes as they transport their
animals to the markets.
On the other
hand, the Regional Police Commander, Mt.Moroto region ACP Francis Chemusto
reminded communities of the reprimand awarded to those engaged in cattle
rustling.
Meanwhile,
the third division commander, Maj.Gen.Don Nabasa who was also in attendance
called upon the youths to return the remaining guns still in their possession
Nabasa
assured communities of their protection by security forces and cautioned those
who have already returned the guns not to slide back into acts of criminality.
