Orom sub-county
authorities have issued a green light to Karamojong cattle keepers interested
in grazing their animals in the sub-county during drought.
This follows numerous meetings
involving elders, women, youth and local authorities from Orom in Kitgum
district and Kacheri sub-county in Kotido district.
This
development was after a delegation from the Orom sub-county met with their
counterparts from Kacheri sub-county in Lotanyat camp to communicate guidelines
and ascertain if the cattle keepers were willing to commit themselves to the
set guidelines.
Orom
sub-county chairman, Too-Odera Johnson Accellam has confirmed the development,
saying the cattle grazers have committed themselves to the guidelines and as
well, the sub county authorities met with the district leadership and the plan
was okayed.
