Kotido district Chief Administrative Officer-CAO Donato Oola Olam has emphasized the need for the district executive committee to constitute the District land board and the sub county area land committee to help in mitigating arising cases of land wrangles.
This follows a concern raised by Kapel Sabina that there are a section of big shots and the elites in the district that are using their powers against the high levels of illiteracy of the locals to grab communal land.
Kapel cited a scenario in Panyangara Sub County where one of the said big shots in the district has purchased land under unclear circumstances and is currently frustrating the efforts of elders who are attempting to establish ways of acquiring back their land.

Oola argues that with the district land board and land committee in place, they would easily address the arising land boundary issues, offer advice and guidance in process of acquiring land and guiding those interested in leasing their land among others.

The district speaker Emmanuel Lodio has however blamed the reluctance of the Chairman and the district executive committee in coming up with the names of members of the land board for approval by council.
