Kotido RDC Charles Ichogor
has revealed plans to send a section of reformed Karacunas from Kotido district
for an exposure visit to western Uganda, which also relies on livestock farming
as a source of livelihood.
The visit
according to Ichogor will help inform the Karacunas on how best they can
improve livestock farming in the district to better their lives.
Ichogor says
during the visit, the reformed warriors will be educated on the importance of
practicing agriculture besides livestock farming, practicing commercial farming
and how they can use the available government programs to improve business.
He adds that
after the exchange visits, the Karacunas will then be taken through ideological
trainings on patriotism so that they know how they can apply for and benefit
from the PDM, UGIFT and Youth Livelihood funds among some other government
programs.
He expressed
optimism that the selected Karacunas will become ambassadors of change to
encourage those who are still in the bush staging cattle raids to come out and
embrace developing the region.
Ichogor
further implored those who have surrendered their fire weapons desist from
rearming and rather join skilling programs citing that being offered by the
Diocese to better their lives
