Kotido deputy RDC John Magezi has raised concerns over the dilapidated state of Panyangara airstrip.

Magezi was yesterday at the airstrip to welcome a delegation from UNICEF to launch the Nachuma multi use water scheme.

The doors to the latrine and the wash rooms at the waiting rooms were visibly vandalized, parts of the airstrip field ploughed and several motorists riding along the run way as well as herds men grazing their animals.

Magezi noted that such facilities need to be well maintained and properly guarded not only because it is used by dignitaries but also to avert aircraft accidents as well as safeguarding it from human and animal encroachment.

He has tasked Kotido district CAO Joseph Lomongin to ensure that the district allocates funds for the fencing, renovation and maintenance of the facilities at the airstrip and also assign personnel to guard the facility at all times to ensure that it isn’t vandalized when renovated.
