The state minister for
ethics and integrity Rose Lilly Akello has urged Kotido district authorities to
intervene in the boundary row that is between the UPDF’s 3rd and the
5th divisions.
This was
after Ambrose Onoria -Kotido RDC during the iron sheets distribution launch
informed the minister about the boundary rows between the two divisions calling
for her intervention into the matter.
The row
stemmed up following the killing of 3 Karamojong herdsmen who were gunned downed
in Longaroe dam by soldiers deployed by the 5th division.
According to
Onoria, UPDF authorities at the 5th division have continued to
insist that Longaroe dam and Abim district are under their areas of operations.

Akello in response
said the matter was also tabled before her by the UPDF 3rd division
authorities recently while in Katakwi district and urged Kotido district
chairperson to visit the land office in Entebbe so that they can access a
detailed map that stipulates the boundaries of the districts.
Akello says
this will help guide them on the demarcations of the districts and it will
address the issues of areas of operations for the two divisions.
