Kotido district authorities
have set 12th December 2023 as the date for meeting with NGO's,
where they are expected to revise the memorandum of understanding (MOU)
concerning their operations in the district.
The
revelation was made by the district chairman Paul Komol Lotee at the launch of
activities to mark 16 days of activism at Kotido Youth center.
The call for
the meeting follows the absence of a number of NGO’s and CBO’s during the
budget conference held on 07th November in which Brian Etuko the
Kotido district CDO informed the house that there are 47 NGO’s and CBO’s
operating in the district but only 10 were in attendance.

This absence
prompted the district speaker Lodio Emmanuel along with a section of councilors
to recommend that the CAO together with the LC 5 chairperson set a date of
meeting with the NGO’s and CBO’s so as to call them to order.
Komol in his
communication said the district has already sent letters of invitations, calling
out for the decision makers in these organisations to comply with some set
conditions or risk having their operational license revoked.
He however
adds that they expect to review the activities of the different NGO’s and CBO’s
in the different administrative units which will not only curb duplication of
programs but also extend service delivery to those administrative units who
don’t have any projects running in their communities.
