Kotido district council has taken an initiative to regulate the
movement of district vehicles which according to them is for purposes of fleet
management.
During a full council meeting that took place at the
youth center, the councilors unanimously resolved to have all cars parked at
the district parking yard beyond working hours, weekend and when not on
official duty.
Emmanuel Lodio, the district speaker says a number of
district vehicles are being mishandled by especially the heads of departments,
plunging the district into losses.
Lodio also noted that there have been unfair transfers
and alleged mistreatment of the district drivers, something he says does not
foster a good working environment.
He warned that they will instruct security forces to
arrest any district vehicle that will be moving out beyond work time and not on
official duty.

subsequently moved by the district youth councilor Emmy Acheboi and seconded by
Alex Menya.
On the other hand, Godfrey Ogwang Okello-Kotido district
CAO says council does not have the mandate to deploy or assign drivers to the
different departments, but rather advise on what to do.
