A section of residents from Kotido district have threatened to throw
out their current MPs for being too silent in Parliament.
The residents claim they have been abandoned
by the government because of having none speaking legislators.
Sean Paul Atanya, one of the enraged
residents argues that the silence
of the MPs conceals the current insecurity in Kotido, yet most of them have
lost their livelihoods to cattle raiders.
Another resident, Andrew Ariang pointed out
that Kotido district needs a special focus to end gun violence and the rampant
cattle raids.
However, Ariang says government can only pay
attention to such challenges if they are raised in Parliament or brought to
public attention.
Some of them have meanwhile lauded Napak
woman MP Faith Nakut who they say is the only legislator representing the
issues of Karamoja in parliament.
They commended Nakut for standing firm for
the region, citing her representation of the hunger situation at the national
and international level.
