Lack of structures at the
Kopoth health center 3 in Sidok Sub County in Kaabong district has forced
authorities at the facility to house the general ward in the maternity ward.
It has been
established that the ward meant for mothers who had already given birth is
being used as a general ward, leaving those experiencing labor and those who
have already delivered sharing one side.
Kerine
Nakong the health center in charge has described the situation as embarrassing,
saying when they register many deliveries, they are forced to make the newly
born babies share the said partitioned ward with others.
Nakong says this
is not healthy for both the mother and the child since they are vulnerable to contracting
other diseases.
She says
they have notified local authorities about the situation but nothing tangible
has yet been done.
