Luo community football team was yesterday crowned champions of this year’s Kotido district FUFA drum Uhuru league second edition tournament, after a 1-0 goal narrow win against Karamoja community football team.

The lone goal came from Daniel Comboni Wokorach- the Luo community striker who is also the top scorer of the tournament with seven goals, receiving an award of being the top scorer of the tournament.

The two teams had emerged winners from group A after knocking out West Nile and Teso community in the semifinals to book this year’s final slot.

Luo community football club received an award of a trophy, medals and cash prize of 500,000shs whereas Karamoja community football team received a trophy, medals and a cash prize worth 200,000shs.

Emma Ngorok Moding the chairperson Kotido Uhuru league tournament commended all the teams for exhibiting discipline during the match.

Matthew Moding, Kotido district sports officer applauded the DFA for organizing such a tournament and pledged to support all the teams that participated in the tournament with balls.

On the other hand, the 405-brigade commander Col. David Byaruhanga who was the chief guest noted that the game of football promotes peace and called for the game to be extended to the village level.

The most valuable (MVP) and funs favorite player award was given to Jonathan Kamuntu who plays for west Nile community, best goal keeper of the tournament award was given to Karamoja’s goal keeper Jonathan Logora, and the best disciplined team award was given to Westnile among others.
