Maj. Gen. Don Nabasa has today taken over office of the 3 infantry
Division at a ceremony held at the officers’ mess in Moroto army barracks.
The infantry division that covers the entire Eastern and North
Eastern Uganda has been in the command of Brig. Gen. Joseph Balikudembe since
Dec. 2019.
Presiding over the ceremony, the Chief of Defense Forces Gen.
Wilson Mbasu Mbadi commended the outgoing commander Gen. Balikudembe for his
distinguished service.
He added that it was not easy for one to serve and go back home
holistic saying several have left offices via prison.
Gen. Mbadi urged the incoming commander Gen. Nabasa to build on the
foundation laid by his predecessor to achieve the mission of total pacification
of Karamoja.
Similarly, Gen. Mbadi congratulated the outgoing commander for
being selected to attend a senior management course at the National Defense
College, a very high institution one can attain in the army.
Mbadi encouraged the local leaders to play a pivotal role in ending
insecurity in Karamoja.
He however, told the politicians to desist from interfering with
the army benchmarks asking them to allow forces do their work.
