There was mixed reaction after Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kitutu and her deputy Agnes Nandutu made an unexpected appearance to distribute iron sheets in the region.

The two officials are facing charges related to misappropriation of iron sheet pieces meant for vulnerable persons and former cattle rustlers in Karamoja

Local leaders argue that individuals tainted by allegations of diverting relief items for personal use have no moral authority to oversee the distribution of iron sheets.

Remigio Achia, MP for Pian County, expressed bewilderment at the continued tenure of the implicated Ministers despite their involvement in the misappropriation of the iron sheets.

Achia questioned why they have not yet vacated their positions, given the serious allegations leveled against them.

While some leaders have expressed outrage at the ministers' involvement, other leaders have welcomed their presence, saying it could be an opportunity to address longstanding grievances and restore trust with the people of Karamoja.
