Moroto District Education
Officer, Paul Oputa has died this morning, after collapsing in the bathroom.
According to
some of the relatives our reporter interacted with at Moroto regional referral
hospital, where he was rushed to, the late Oputa is reported to have been a
patient of hypertension.
The
coordinator, Karamoja Initiative for sustainable peace-KISP, Charles Topos says
Oputa’s demise has not only left a vacuum in the education sector, but also a
huge gap in the social and religious sector.
Topos says
many young people will miss Oputa’s experienced guidance and mentorship skills,
which he exhibited in a humble manner.
He also
pointed out that a number of seed and other schools in Moroto mushroomed under
the leadership of the deceased, and that many other educational
infrastructures.
Topos
commended the fallen DEO for his stewardship and service in the education
sector, saying he encouraged many teachers to go for further training.
By press
time, no medical report had yet been presented to establish what caused Oputa’s
death.
