The Moroto district LC5, David Koryang has implored stakeholders
interested in developing Karamoja to avoid ethnic differences while looking for
a common goal towards success.
He was speaking yesterday while officiating at the 4th
Annual general meeting for Karamoja Regional Development Initiative {KAREDI}
held at hotel Leslona.
The meeting attracted various representatives from
local governments, the private sector, cultural leaders, youth, women and PWDs
among others.
Koryang says leaders should not own leadership but
rather involve humility to face common atrocities like climate change, which
will consequently lead to the fight against insecurity and hunger in the
sub-region.
According to Tom Kyakwise, the chief of party at
United States Agency for International Development- the supporting partner,
KAREDI was born to harness collective power by speaking as one voice of
development and challenges among other areas of concern.
The Karamoja Regional Initiative for Development
started in March 2018 following USAID response to a request from Karamoja
stakeholders to facilitate consultations about Karamoja development, leading to
its registration in March 2022.
