The Moroto teacher training institute, an affiliate of Kyambogo University
guild candidates have completed their search for votes.
On Thursday, all the candidates concluded with joint campaigns in
the campus multi-purpose hall with calls to vote maturity to serve in the 1st
guild presidency.
Dismus Cheputai, a guild president aspirant urged students to vote
experience saying coordination between them and the administration requires
someone mature.
He pledged to work hand in hand with the administration saying
there is need to improve on academics in the institute.
Another aspirant, Richard Otim, a former student coordinator now
vying for presidency expressed his readiness to lead the students’ body.
He says when elected, he will lobby for the new institute, the
first of its kind in Karamoja.
The aspiring guild vice presidents Victoria Cheptoris and Nasta
Chekwemboi shared the same goals aimed at promoting equitable representation
for the students’ guild.
On the other hand, Cheptoris pledged to look after the breast
feeding mothers by ensuring better environment asking the colleagues to vote
for the hustler.
Chekwemboi pledged to bridge the gap between students and the
administration through servant leadership saying the learners need to sustain
the common goal as Education for the future.
Other aspirants include, Raymond Eyabu and Caleb Chelangat vying
for the post of general secretary.
Simon Peter Lopeyok and Simon Moses Aule are contesting for the
post of Minister for Education. Whereas, Teko Micheal, is vying for the General
Welfare Ministry. Matui Manaf, Silver Ilukol are competing for Games and Sports
and health, sanitation and environment ministries.
The guild electoral commission chairperson Emmanuel Omongo says the
aspirants have been duly nominated with all the requirements ready for Friday
June 30th elections at the campus.
