A section of residents have
come out to castigate the poor service delivery at Moroto regional referral
hospital, which they say is leading to deaths.
Some of the
locals speaking with Ateker Moroto FM this afternoon have accused some doctors
of negligence and lack of passion for their profession.
This
development follows the demise of a mother Nadiye Sarah Bole, who developed
complications after a C-section from the hospital but died from Mulago national
referral hospital this afternoon where she had been referred for further
management.
Samuel Bole,
the deceased’s elder brother has intimated that his sister’s death could have
emanated from negligence of the medical personnel who operated his sister.
He narrated
that his sister went into a state of unconsciousness after the C-section,
prompting doctors at the regional referral to refer her for further medical
attention.
Bole noted
that this is not the first time such a tragic incident is happening to a mother
seeking maternal medical services and urged the hospital management to improve
on its services.
While
speaking with the director Moroto regional referral hospital Dr.Stephen Pande
over the phone, he called for calm, saying as a hospital, they have channels of
handling such complaints.
Dr.Pande
says as a facility, they conduct death audits to establish the cause of death
or areas of weaknesses, after which appropriate action is taken.
