Local leaders in Nabilatuk
district are pushing for the halting of the operations of Kibrut Company
limited contracted to rehabilitate 47 kilometers Nabilatuk-Moroto road.
Paul Lokol
the district chairperson says works on the road worth 5.7 billion shillings
were to be completed by 2021 but the company has since failed to complete the
works, something the leaders say has frustrated business and transport in the
district.
Lokol adds
that the stalled works have also caused an upsurge in road accidents along the
road, with up to 5 cases registered on a daily basis, caused by heaps of marram.
He noted
that the company only embarks on the work after complaints are raised by local
leaders.
The district
chairman says as leaders, they want the contract terminated, adding that and
his office is in consultations with the office of the RDC to forge ways that
will see UNRA take over the works for fast completion.
