Nakapiripirit principal assistant secretary Ilukol Job Lomenen has been arrested by police for wrongfully issuing iron sheets to non-beneficiaries in Tokora and Moruita sub-counties.

Karamoja regional police spokesperson, Mike Longole has confirmed the arrest, saying the step was taken because the official did not follow due process.

According to Longole, security forces have so far recovered 364 iron sheets from non-beneficiaries and he says efforts to recover more iron sheets is ongoing.

He expressed dismay that the action of local leaders to issue the roofing materials to non-beneficiaries may frustrate the efforts of security forces in fronting for voluntary disarmament.

The police mouthpiece urged leaders to strictly follow the list of intended beneficiaries, generated by the district security committees.
