Napak district is yet to receive the
full consignment of iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister, one
month after the flagging off by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja.
Nabanja flagged off 97,552 iron sheets
to be distributed to 3,752 beneficiaries across the region with Moroto
receiving 9,568, Nakapiripirit 6,526, Nabilatuk 6,188, Amudat 9,620, Kotido
17,316, Kaabong 18,798, Karenga 6,500 and Napak 12350.
Charles Odongtho the OPM spokesperson
has disclosed that eight districts in Karamoja have already received their
allocated consignments of the iron sheets, apart from Napak district which has
received about 2000 iron sheets of the over 12000 iron sheets allocated.
Odongtho explains that the delay in
the delivery of the iron sheets is as a result of hiccups in the procurement
process and the onset of the festive period which saw most of the offices
closed.
Odongtho expects that in a few days,
Napak district will receive the final bit of the consignment which will then
pave way for the launch of the distribution at the district level.
