Napak district woman MP
Faith Nakut has called for immediate investigations into the continuous
insecurity and killings in the different districts of Karamoja.
While
speaking yesterday, Nakut said those killing innocent people in the sub-region
should be apprehended and prosecuted in the courts of law.
She pointed
out that the people of Karamoja should also enjoy peace and security that
Ugandans in other parts of the country are enjoying.

This follows
a complaint raised in parliament by MP for Chekwi county Moses Aleper, who
asked the minister of internal affairs to intervene in the ongoing killings of
people in Nakapiripirit district by suspected Pokot warriors.
Aleper says
over twenty people have been killed in a short period of time while over four
thousand heads of cattle have been raided.
Karamoja
development forum last week convened a Uganda - Kenya cross border peace and security
meeting to seek new solutions to end the armed crime by developing appropriate
strategies for coping with the challenges of conflict resolution in Karamoja
and the neighbours in Kenya and South Sudan.
In his submission,KDF executive director Simon Longoli noted that rustling
has triggered revenge and conflict amongst communities.
