Napak district woman MP Faith Nakut has asked parliament to reject
the ministry of education policy that requires all nursery teachers to have
degrees.
While presenting her petition on the matter to
parliament’s education committee, Nakut argues that the country does not have
adequate number of teachers for primary education and that pre-primary
education is entirely private-led.
She says schools cannot afford to employ university
graduate teachers for nursery school learners, once this policy is implemented.

on policy.
The legislator says there should be regulations for
pre-primary schools with a body monitoring the activities of nursery schools
for the protection of baby learners.
