Over 81 households in and around Kitale quarters saved from water stress as they receive borehole from Cand D.

Over 2000 residents living in and around Kitale quarters have today breathed a sigh of relief after receiving a borehole, drilled by cooperation and development-C and D.

While speaking at the handover ceremony today, the mayor Moroto municipality, Mohammed Ismail said the borehole has come at the right time and will help to ease the pressure of water demands.

Ismail noted that the water source will also aid in improving hygiene and sanitation of the beneficiaries and boost their various business ventures.

He commended cooperation and development for their flexibility and always running to the rescue of communities, adding that C and D has touched the lives of many families in the various sectors of education, health, water and livelihood.

On his side, Moroto assistant RDC Mark Aol Musoka while handing over the water point urged the community to embrace the ownership of projects brought to them and ensure sustainability.

Musoka who referred to C and D as a long-standing friend of Karamoja also re-echoed that the borehole will improve on the livelihood of the people especially local brewers.

Walter Ekel from Cooperation and Development urged the community to support the water user committee safeguard the water source and also contributes towards its maintenance.

According to South division town clerk Lolem Samuel Loguti, they intend to levy as sum of 5,000 shilling on each household per month to support the maintenance of the borehole.

At the same function, the chairman South Division Isaac Lokol Bruta clarified on the implementation of the several government interventions like PDM,youth livelihood program,UWEP and others, following questions arising from community members.

The 60 meters underground borehole was constructed by Cooperation and Development at a tune of over 20 million shillings.
