Police in Moroto have organized community policing programs in parts
of the district in a bid to curb the emerging cases of criminality.
This follows
an increase in cases of murder, road ambushes and robberies registered in the
areas of Rupa and Katikekile sub-counties.
Police
spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole has confirmed the upcoming community
policing events, saying they will cover the areas of Rupa trading centre,
Kakingol, Nakiloro trading centre and Lotisan sub-county.
Longole
intimated that the meeting will help to iron out issues suspected to cause the
current insecurity in the communities and urged local leaders of the respective
areas to mobilise their people to attend.
He
emphasized that fighting criminality in communities is a collective
responsibility of every one in society.
There has
been heightened levels of insecurity in including murders and robberies in the
areas of Nakiloro, with a recent incident involving the murder of a boda boda
rider, robbing of a nurse attached to Kakingol health centre among others.
