Police in Nakapiripirit
district have arrested and detained one of their own –Joseph Muda to help in
investigations following indiscriminate shooting by unknown person within the
police barracks.
While giving
an account of what transpired, police spokesperson for Karamoja, IP Mike
Longole said the shooting was directed towards the station major at around
5:45am as he blew a whistle to wake up officers to organize for the routine
Monday morning parade.
According to
Longole, the shooting came from the direction of the residence of the OC
station, ASP Ivan Nduhura who sustained a minor injury on the left hand.
A team from
police regional headquarters led by SP Patrick Odongo was dispatched to assess
the situation but when a K9 dog was introduced to the scene, it kept rotating
within the residence of the OC station, Ivan Nduhura.
Longole says
the team recovered about 30 cartridges inside the residence of the OC station.
According to
police, there was no external attack on the barracks but rather a framed
situation which is being handled by the force.
