Police in Nabilatuk
district have launched a manhunt for two suspects who have reported escaped
from lawful custody.
The suspects
have been identified as 23 year old Philip Ichumar, a resident of Lotede
village-accused of stealing cattle while Owalinga Lopul, a resident of Napangoe
village is a suspect of aggravated defilement.
According to
the police spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole, the duo escaped at around
6pm last evening during a heavy downpour in the district.
Longole
intimated that the suspects allegedly removed one of the iron sheets from the
cell roof at the CPS and vanished.
A case of
escape from lawful custody has been registered against them, while the officer
on duty has been charged with negligence.
The police
have called on members of the community to provide them with relevant
information that can lead to the arrest of the escapees.
Just a
fortnight ago, a suspect of aggravated defilement escaped from custody at
Moroto central police station, leading to arrest of four officers who were on
duty.
