Police in Nakapiripirit
district have arrested a 26 year old man who stabbed a boda boda rider and made
away with his motorbike.
According to
police, Nelson Omara stabbed John Akasule, a boda rider in Komaret along
Amudat-Nakapiripirit road, after camouflaging as a passenger.
Police
spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole says the rider and his supposed
passenger left Amudat in the evening, riding a bike with registration number
KMFL 380A but along the way in Komaret,Omara stabbed the rider with sharp knife,
leaving him unconscious and vanished with the bike.
However,
police responded swiftly and made coordination with other security agencies and
checkpoints, where the suspect was arrested at Moru-Ajore checkpoint along
Nakapiripirit-Mbale road.
Police has retrieved
the knife with blood stains from the suspect together with the stolen bike.
Meanwhile,
boda boda riders have been cautioned to be vigilant when dealing with strangers
especially those who hire them for long distances.
The boda
boda rider has been taken to Amudat hospital for medication.
