Rev.Father Dominic Alinga,34-year-old priest has been remanded to
Kigo prison until August 26 for the alleged murder of URA employee John Bosco
Ngorok and the attempted murder of Abigaba Mugisha.
Alinga is a
catholic priest and resident of Alipada village-Kangole town council in Napak
district.
Prosecution
contends that on August 3rd 2024, Alinga while in Kitooro zone in
Entebbe with malice aforethought unlawfully murdered Ngorok.
Court
further heard that Rev.Fr. Dominic Alinga unlawfully attempted to cause the
death of Abigaba Mugisha, a boda boda rider who tried to take the deceased for
emergency medical care at Entebbe regional referral hospital.
The
presiding judge said the offences are capital in nature and the court did not
have the jurisdiction to hear them, thus remanding the suspect.
Defence
lawyer Edward Bamulutira prayed for the prosecution to expedite investigations
and commit the accused to the high court for trial.
Meanwhile,
the prosecution responded that it is preparing the committal papers to have the
accused committed to the high court.
