Kotido deputy RDC Magezi
John Lukooki has revealed that there is relative calm registered in “Entebbe
Area” Village, Kotido East parish in central division, Kotido Municipality.
The area is
known for high levels of criminality like domestic violence, burglary,
assaults, pick pocketing, drug abuse and alcoholism among others but Magezi
says these have reduced due to the community based sensitizations.
Magezi has
called on the other area LC 1s to rejuvenate the village vigilante system and
the 10 household system in which residents watch over their security, saying
this system has worked for major towns and if incorporated in Kotido
municipality and the district at large, relative peace and calm would be
realized.

The deputy
RDC has also hinted that as head of security, they will engage security organs
to corner those still playing cards and drinking alcohol during working hours
in bars and smoking opium, saying these are the major escalators of criminality
in the community.
