Residents of Chepskunya in Kween district are recovering from shock and fear, after a police constable attached to ASTU started shooting indiscriminately, following a disagreement at a bar within the trading centre.

Reports from police spokesperson for Karamoja Mike Longole indicate that the police constable identified as Ivan Muhindo is attached to Chepskunya ASTU zonal headquarters.

Longole says after the brawl at the trading centre, Muhindo returned to the zone, picked a PK machine gun loaded with 200 rounds and started shooting indiscriminately at people.

The police mouthpiece says the force has recommended that the officer be dismissed from service with disgrace, following an open disciplinary court instituted yesterday.

However, the police management is yet to receive a confirmation of the court recommendation from its headquarters.
