Seven people have been remanded to Namalu government prison for vandalizing and selling government property as scrap.

Police spokesperson for Karamoja, IP Mike Longole says the suspects were nabbed by police in Amudat through intelligence in Amudat Cell A and B and in Lokirimo.

Longole has identified the suspects as Sichot John Baptist, Salim Amis, Wodeya Shaban, Ngole Samson, Lotyang Vincent, Eotu Simon Peter and Wamutinyi Severio.

Longole says the suspects were arrested in possession of borehole parts, seven sign posts with the labels of UNRA, set of electric wires, bicycle frames with NRM labels, three metallic culverts and binding iron bar wires among other items.

The suspects were arraigned before Nakapiripirit Grade one magistrate court and charged with two counts of possession of suspected stolen property and malicious damage to property.

On the other hand, a bus passenger was last evening arrested at Kapedo check point in Karenga with 145 SMG ammunitions.

The passenger aboard a Roblyn bus was from Kitgum, heading to Lolelia sub-county in Kaabong district.
