Seven people have been
remanded to Namalu government prison for vandalizing and selling government
property as scrap.
Police
spokesperson for Karamoja, IP Mike Longole says the suspects were nabbed by
police in Amudat through intelligence in Amudat Cell A and B and in Lokirimo.
Longole has
identified the suspects as Sichot John Baptist, Salim Amis, Wodeya Shaban,
Ngole Samson, Lotyang Vincent, Eotu Simon Peter and Wamutinyi Severio.
Longole says
the suspects were arrested in possession of borehole parts, seven sign posts
with the labels of UNRA, set of electric wires, bicycle frames with NRM labels,
three metallic culverts and binding iron bar wires among other items.
The suspects
were arraigned before Nakapiripirit Grade one magistrate court and charged with
two counts of possession of suspected stolen property and malicious damage to
property.
On the other
hand, a bus passenger was last evening arrested at Kapedo check point in
Karenga with 145 SMG ammunitions.
The
passenger aboard a Roblyn bus was from Kitgum, heading to Lolelia sub-county in
Kaabong district.
Longole says
the suspect is under custody at Kapedo zonal ASTU headquarters.
