Joint security forces have warned karacunas
against acts of dishonesty as they hand over illegal guns in their possessions
t authorities following the presidential amnesty.
The caution was sounded after
two warriors handed over an illegal gun during the launch of iron sheets
distribution in Kaabong district.
The duo identified as Lojore
Lokol and Losuk Mariko claimed they were sharing the same gun to conduct raids
in different parts of Karamoja.
However, the police
spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole says intelligence indicated that each
of the suspects had their own gun.
According to Longole, the
development prompted security forces to summon them for questioning, where
Losuk Mariko disclosed that he has his own gun.
This led to a cordon and
search operation in the home of Losuk Mariko in Lodwar east village, Kaabong
east sub-county in Kaabong district, leading to the recovery of another gun,
with one round of ammunition.
Longole says the duo will be
charged as joint offenders for giving false information and illegal possession
of firearm.
