Kapeeta sub county
chairperson Lokonyen Simon Peter and the acting sub county Chief Christine
Nameja have been implicated for withdrawing the recently distributed iron
sheets from the rightful beneficiaries.
This follows
two separate cases registered against them for theft at Kotido CPS by Lodia
Peter and Loden Robert.
Lodia and
Loden allege that, on the 14th February after they received 26
pieces of iron sheets, the accused duo later withdrew the iron sheets from them
over claims that they were the ones that fought for their names to be included
into the list of beneficiaries.
Loden says
Lokonyen withdrew 5 iron sheets from him while Lodia says Nameja withdrew 10
iron sheets from him.

Kapeeta sub county councilor also says he has received about seven complains
from beneficiaries in five parishes of Kapeeta, where the duo have withdrawn
iron sheets from beneficiaries.
Lokech
denounced the act of the LC 3 chairperson and the Sub county chief, saying this
jeopardizes the intentions of government in fulfilling its pledges to the
selected beneficiaries.
Robert
Kacuma the DPC Kotido confirmed that the case was registered and no arrests
have so far been made and investigations into matter have commenced.

Meanwhile,
Kotido Deputy RDC Lukooki John Magezi has issued a strong warning to leaders to
desist from such acts saying they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that
the culprits are brought to book.
Magezi has encouraged
members of the public and beneficiaries to report any leader who involves
themselves in such acts terming them as saboteurs of government intentions.
