The third division commander Maj.Gen Don Nabasa has assured the people of Karamoja that peace will once again prevail in the sub-region.

Nabasa was speaking at a community meeting over the weekend held in Namboole, Loregae sub-county in Nakapiripirit district.

The meeting was convened to address challenges hindering cooperation between security forces and the community as they tackle criminality in communities.

Nabasa pointed out that the profiled routes frequently used by criminals lack water sources to serve security forces, but says they are working closely with Nakapiripirit leadership to address the situation.

On the other hand, the regional police commander for Mt.Moroto region ACP Francis Chemusto noted that cases of commercial raids are reducing as a result of limiting routes for livestock sold from the various markets in Karamoja.

The meeting was also attended by state minister for energy and mineral development, Peter Lokeris and state minister for disaster preparedness, Esther Davinia Anyakun.
