The third division deputy
commander Brig.Gen.Felix Busizoori has urged Karamoja leaders to desist from
tribal and clan leaning, saying it is detrimental to development.
Busizoori
was speaking today as he addressed a gathering at Moroto Boma grounds in
celebrations to mark the 43rd Tarehe Sita Anniversary under the theme:
"Celebrating the Peoples’ Struggle for Unity, Security, and Peace for
Socio-Economic Transformation.
He says
leaders should refrain from identifying themselves with their clans but rather
take themselves as the people of Karamoja, and front their agenda as
Karimojong.
On the other
hand, Busizoori told the Karimojong work towards the socio-economic
transformation of the region, which he says can only be achieved through
education.
Tarehe Sita
is celebrated every 6th of February in commemoration of the date
president Museveni and 26 other colleagues picked up arms to launch a
liberation struggle against injustices like extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests,
tribalism and others.
