A yet to be identified criminal gang on Monday morning [Oct. 30,
2023] attacked Kangole town council in Napak district, grabbing over 20 goats.
The animals are a property of the retired Inspector of Police
Samuel Lokong, who resides in the town council, about 200 metres away from
Kangole Central Police Station.
Denis Okori, the Resident District Commissioner Napak, when
contacted confirmed the 1.00am attack on Lokong’s residence, describing the
incident as unfortunate but he says the forces have launched a manhunt for the
thugs.
Okori suspects thugs from the neighbouring Moroto and Nabilatuk
districts could be responsible for the dire security concerns in Napak.
On the other hand, Okori has disclosed that the thug who was killed
last week by the army during an attempted raid on Nagul’angolol village,
Ngoleriet Sub County in Napak was a Senior 3 student of Arengesiep SSS in
Nakapiripirit district.
He identified the deceased as Idoo Lokwakori who was gunned down by
foot patrol team.
The retreating gun wielding thugs also shot dead a school teacher
Simon Peter Ilukol resident of Namekwi village, Ngoleriet Sub County who had
sneaked in the wee hours to ascertain chaos.
Earlier, on Wednesday the same thugs shot dead a former Tanzanian
trained police officer Prescott Sagal on the banks of Omani-man seasonal river,
in Lomunit village.
Napak district is witnessing increased thuggery but police claim
they are on top of the situation, according to the Karamoja police spokesperson
IP Mike Longole.
