A section of youths in Moroto have disclosed  that they have a criminal alliance with the Turkana of Kenya, who hire them guns which they use in conducting raids and terrorizing the locals.

This was revealed during a peace mobilization meeting held yesterday in Nadunget shrine located in Lorikokwa village, Nadunget sub-county.

They disclosed that the Turkana also hire their guns to the Pian, especially those in Nabilatuk district.

Community members however decried the arrests of innocent people who end up in prisons, and this they attributed to wrong informers who provide wrong information to the security personnel.

They pointed out that the amnesty extension has enabled them to return to their homes, adding that those with illegal guns will be able to return them to authorities.

Speaking at the same meeting, the third division commander Maj.Gen.Don Nabasa urged the reformed warriors to collaborate with security to pacify the sub-region, emphasizing that it is only the Karimojong who will bring back total peace to Karamoja and no one else.

Yesterday’s meeting also saw voluntary handover of a gun by a hard core criminal and Nabasa urged others to follow suit.
